Children Left Behind: The Status of Suspension and Expulsion in Indiana
Client: Indiana Youth Services Association Term: January 2004–June 2004
The Center, in conjunction with the Indiana Youth Services Association, obtained a grant from the Lilly Endowment for this project. The goals of the project were: - To share key data about school suspension and expulsion with policy makers, educators, and community members, in order to open a statewide dialogue concerning the best methods for maintaining a safe and productive learning climate in school.
- To initiate and maintain a forum for discussion between the juvenile justice and educational systems to ensure that methods chosen for maintaining order in our schools do not jeopardize the human potential of young people or the overall safety of communities.
