Evaluation of the Brown County CAPE Initiative
Client: County School Corporation of Brown County Term: February 2000–December 2004
The Community Alliances to Promote Education (CAPE) initiative of Brown County works to further learning opportunities and increase self-worth for its residents. CEEP evaluated the level of success of the Community Resource Center in regard to its constituent program elements. Data collection involves gathering information from constituent elements and the general public about the overall impact of the program in Brown County.
The research methodology includes observations, site visits, and surveys of teachers and administrators as well as document reviews. Test scores are analyzed to determine literacy skill growth of students in the Indiana Reading Excellence Demonstration program (IREAD) schools compared with students in non-IREAD schools. Further analyses may investigate differences in literacy development based upon quality of IREAD implementation at the school and district levels as well as in relation to other variables identified by the Indiana Department of Education.
