Evaluation of the Novice Teacher Support Project

Term: January 2000–June 2001

The University of Illinois College of Education formed a partnership with three regional offices of education, two teachers unions, and several school districts in east central Illinois to develop a program supporting teachers during their first three years.

The two-year evaluation examined:

Voluntary participation of novice teachers and school administrators
Participant reaction to the program
Impact in the classroom
The general structure of the partnership
Partnership management and funding
The ability to generalize the program
