Evaluation of the Michigan Small Class Size Program
Client: Michigan Department of Education Term: July 1999–August 2002
The Michigan Department of Education wanted to know the impact on student performance of an initiative to reduce class size in grades K-3. To measure this, participating schools reduced class size to 17:1 and were compared with non-participating schools with regular size classes using state and district achievement test scores, instructional practices, and rates of student attendance.
