Addressing Ohio's School Funding Challenge
Client: Ohio Department of Education Term: July 1998–January 2001
This project was in partnership with the Ohio Department of Education, which requested that the Center develop an issues-driven school funding reform initiative in the state of Ohio. The goals of this initiative were to:
- Enhance Ohio’s understanding of its current system for funding public schools
- Assist in the state’s planning for changes in that system
- Improve the quality of decisions made in that system
Through conducting individual discussions with Ohio stakeholders, developing a conceptual basis for funding alternatives, and applying a common set of objective measures to a range of funding alternatives, the study was able to assess the relative effectiveness of alternative formulas in addressing these goals.
