Several CEEP research staff will participate in the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), April 27–May 1, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Hitchcock will present "The Math for All Education RCT: Contrasting an enacted design with the potential of Mixed RCTs." Colleen Chesnut, CEEP research associate, will serve as a discussant for that particular symposium. Dr. Hitchcock will also co-present "Developing Measures of Abstract Constructs Using a Mixed Methods Approach: Introducing an Analytic Framework." Molly Stewart, CEEP research associate, and Jodi Moon, CEEP graduate research assistant, will present "Public dollars to private schools: An analysis of accountability mechanisms in publicly funded voucher programs." Dr. Stewart will also present a co-authored poster "Dual enrollment and dual credit in Kentucky, Examining program implementation, participation, and completion."
Dr. Skiba is also an invited speaker for the AERA Centennial Lecture Series and will present "School Discipline: Issues of Equity and Effectiveness" at Boston's John F. Kennedy, Jr. Presidential Library and Museum on April 12, 2017.
Dr. Chesnut will help coordinate the 2017 Martha McCarthy Education Law & Policy Institute on June 8, 2017 at the Indiana University School of Education. The Institute focuses on legal challenges facing education. Dr. Ruddy will facilitate the Institute's policy panel.
Dr. Yel will present “Mathematics Content Aligned or Not and Test Performances of Students with Disabilities” at the 2017 Annual Meeting of the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME) which will take place April 28–30, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas.
At the Council for Exception Children Special Education Convention and Expo, held April 20–21, 2017 in Boston, Dr. Hitchcock will co-chair a strand on Quality Indicators for Mixed Methods Research in Special Education: Current and Future Directions and Dr. Skiba will co-chair a strand on Disproportionality in Special Education.
On May 19, 2017, at the New York University Steinhardt Center's spring conference on disproportionality, Dr. Skiba will be a featured speaker with the address "Dismantling and Eradicating Disproportionality: Interventions for All Children."
