With the passage of Public Law 146 in 2008, the Indiana General Assembly established referenda for school construction and General Fund levies as a new mechanism of school funding. The law abandoned Indiana’s petition and remonstrance process for most school construction projects in favor of voter referenda. In addition, General Fund referenda are required for any school corporation seeking to raise property taxes beyond established tax caps. More information on Indiana’s school referenda can be found in the Center for Evaluation & Education Policy’s (CEEP) education policy brief, School Referenda in Indiana

CEEP has established this online database in order to provide a publicly-available source of essential information (such as tax increases sought or vote results) on Indiana’s past school referenda to administrators, policymakers, community members, and researchers. School referenda data is organized by year and available through the menu below.
